Recipe Ingredients and Notes
Frozen Banana: When your bananas are beginning to brown, peel them, and place them in. a freezer safe bag. When you’re ready to make your smoothie, chop the banana into chunks before adding it to your blender.
Frozen Peaches: Peaches are only in season during the summer months. That is why using frozen peaches can be a handy trick to make this smoothie all year long. Of course, if it’s summer and you have fresh peaches, feel free to use them. You may want to add a half cup of ice to the blender to make it cool and creamy.
Unsweetened Almond Milk: Use unsweetened almond milk to reduce the overall sugar. You can use any type of plant milk that you prefer, but I recommend using unsweetened to reduce the overall sugar.
Dairy-Free Plain Yogurt: SoDelicious and Silk both make plain dairy-free yogurt. SoDelicious has a coconut milk based yogurt, and Silk has an almond milk based yogurt. I opt for the plain yogurt over the vanilla to reduce added sugar.
Maple Syrup (optional): If you prefer a little added sweetness, I recommend one tablespoon of maple syrup. Maple syrup is a natural refined sugar free option that will increase the sweetness if needed.
Toppings (optional): I like to add a few garnishes to my smoothies. Here I’ve added a sprig of mint, a slice of peach, and a teaspoon of chia seeds.
Tools and Equipment
Blender: Use whatever type of blender you have at home. You will likely need a large blender, rather than a single serving blender to ensure all the ingredients fit.
If you have a high speed blender like the Vitamix, you will get an excellent smooth texture! After using my standard blender for many years, I finally got a Vitamix for Christmas last year! It really does improve the texture of your smoothies!
However, if you’re looking for a more economical blender, I recommend the Ninja Professional Plus or the Nutribullet!

Top Tips for Making the Best Banana Peach Smoothie
- Use frozen fruit, or at least the frozen banana. By using frozen fruit you won’t need to add any ice which can water down your smoothie and make it less creamy.
- Add your liquid ingredients to your blender first. Then your soft fruit, followed by your frozen fruit or ice. This helps to more easily incorporate other ingredients without the need to stop, stir, and blend again.
- If you have a variable speed blender start low, and slowly move the dial up to high. Blend for about 10-20 seconds on high speed.
Recipe FAQS
Can I use fresh peaches?
Yes, you can use fresh peaches! If you choose to use fresh, you may want to add a half of a cup of ice to create that cold creamy texture.
Do the peaches need to be peeled?
No, your peaches do not need to be peeled. You may find that if you buy frozen peaches they are already peeled. However, if you use fresh, it is fine to leave the skin on. it will all blend together nicely in the blender.
How do I adjust the sweetness?
Less Sweet: If you find that your smoothie is too sweet, add a touch of fresh lemon juice. This will help balance out the sweetness. Also leave the added maple syrup out. I recommend making it without the maple syrup first, tasting the smoothie, and then adding the maple syrup if you think it needs to be sweeter. The peaches and banana add their own natural sweetness.
More Sweet: If you think your smoothie needs more sweetness, you can add an additional tablespoon of maple syrup, or if you want to stick with fresh fruit, adding frozen pineapple is a good option. Other options include agave, or grapes!
How many servings is this smoothie?
This smoothie recipe makes 2 servings. However, you can make it for one, but just remember that the nutritional information will be double. One serving is 120 calories, which makes 2 servings a total of 240 calories.
Can I make this smoothie in advance?
I recommend making your smoothies fresh. You can prepare all of your ingredients ahead of time, and then put them together in the blender. However, blending your smoothie the night before will result in a less creamy texture as the frozen fruit will melt.
How do I store and keep this smoothie?
If you have leftovers, store in the refrigerator for up to 1 day. As I mentioned above, it’s best to make and enjoy your smoothies fresh. However, it won’t go bad, it just might lose some of it’s cool and creamy texture!
What makes this banana peach smoothie healthy?
Naturally Sweetened: There are no artificial sweeteners in this smoothie. The banana and peach provide natural sweetness.
Rich in Vitamins and Nutrients: Bananas are a good source of potassium, vitamin C, and manganese. Peaches are packed with antioxidants that help fight aging and some chronic conditions.
Low in Fat and Calories: One serving of this smoothie is about 120 calories, and 2 grams of fat. Even if you drink the entire smoothie yourself, it’s only 240 calories and 4 grams of fat! This smoothie will provide you with needed energy all morning!
Variations and Substitutions
No Dairy Free Yogurt: If you don’t have any dairy-free plain yogurt, you can leave it out, and add a touch more almond milk. The yogurt really adds a nice creaminess. If you’re not vegan, you can use regular plain yogurt, or even vanilla yogurt. Just note using vanilla yogurt will have added sugar.
No Maple Syrup: If you don’t have maple syrup, but want a bit more sweetness, you can use agave syrup or coconut sugar.
Add Veggies: As an option, you can add a cup of fresh spinach to get a serving of vegetables! Spinach adds vitamins, minerals, and fiber! Spinach doesn’t have a strong flavor, so it will not dramatically alter the flavor of this smoothie.
