My family loves French Fries. I not so much. I can’t eat more than a few due to a lifetime of believing French Fries were the enemy. I have never liked fried foods of any kind. They have always been too greasy and heavy for me.
But these Air Fryer French Fries come out perfect! Not too greasy, not heavy, crispy, and golden brown.
My kids and hubby love fries and would be thrilled if I served them on the daily. I have made them amazing Air Fryer Potato Wedges, so if you’re looking for a homemade fry recipe look no further and check it out.
But if you’re looking for something that is even faster and easier, then Frozen French Fries in the Air Fryer are the way to go!
I’m choosy when it comes to packaged food and that goes for frozen French Fries too. Not all packaged French Fries are created equal.
If you’ve ever turned a package over and compared ingredients from one to the other, you know exactly what I’m talking about.
Here I’ll give you my top three picks for packaged frozen French Fries that are the healthiest, most closely aligned to a plant-based diet, and also taste fantastic.
I’ll also give you tips and tricks to make the perfect Air Fryer Frozen French Fries that come out golden brown and crispy every time! Be sure to check-out the video!
Why You’ll Love these Air Fryer Frozen Fries…
- Easy
- Crispy
- Family Friendly
- No extra ingredients needed!
- Saves time!
Ingredients You Need
All you need is your favorite Organic Frozen French Fries and quality Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Below are my top three frozen French Fry choices.
Tools and Equipment You’ll Need
The only tool you really need is good Air Fryer. There are so many choices on the market.
Making the decision about which one is right for you really depends on what you want your fryer to do, and how large you want it to be to serve your family.
I currently have a small compact Dash Air Fryer. I love it for small jobs. But if you have a big family, or you want more features I recommend the Go Wise 5.8 Qt Air Fryer.
It has 8 cooking presets that help you take the guess work out of how to air fry certain types of foods. It also includes an alarm that will go off at 5, 10, and 15 minute increments to remind you to shake the basket.
How to Make Air Fryer Frozen French Fries – Step by Step
Step 1: Lightly spray your air fryer basket with cooking spray or gently rub 1 tbsp of olive oil around the basket. You don’t need a lot, just a light layer.
(I didn’t have cooking spray so I poured 1 tbsp of olive oil on a paper towel and rubbed it around the sides and bottom of the basket.)
Step 2: Fill the basket with French fries. Don’t overcrowd the basket. You don’t need to place them in the air fryer in a single layer the way you do with many other air fryer recipes, but you also don’t want to cram them in there.
A few overlapping fries is okay. You want enough space to allow the air to circulate and crisp the fries perfectly on all sides.
Step 3: Set Air Fryer temperature to 400 F. Depending on the thickness of your fries you will need to vary the cooking time.
How long do you cook Air Fryer Frozen French Fries?
These are my recommended cooking times for various types of frozen French Fries. Cooking times will vary depending on how crispy you like your fries and the thickness of the fries themselves.
Shoestring Fries: 10-15 minutes, tossing halfway (seen below.)
Crinkle Fries: 15 minutes, tossing halfway.
Waffle Fries: 15 minutes, tossing halfway.
Top Tips for Making Air Fryer Frozen French Fries
- Don’t overcrowd the basket.
- Spray a light amount of olive oil cooking spray in the basket before adding fries.
- Adjust cooking time based on thickness of your fries. Shoestring will need less time than crinkle fries.
Do you add oil to Air Fryer Frozen French Fries?
For the crispiest fries I recommend lightly spraying the cooking basket. If you’d like to reduce the amount of oil in the fries, then leave this step out.
They won’t turn out quite as crispy as they would with the cooking spray, but they will still taste great and have a nice crispy finish.
What makes these Air Fryer Frozen French Fries healthier than others?
When buying frozen French fries, I recommend taking a close look at the ingredients. Many brands out there have added preservatives, and ingredients that are totally unnecessary. Look for a brand that is…
- Organic
- Non-GMO
- No Processed Ingredients
I like the Alexia brand of fries the best. They have a variety of products from shoestring fries, to tater tots, sweet potato fries, and more.
They are Organic, Non-GMO, and contain only a few ingredients (potatoes, oil, apple juice (for color), and citric acid.
While they have added apple juice and citric acid, these are two natural ingredients, unlike the added ingredients in other brands that are anything but natural!
What do you Serve with Air Fryer Frozen Fries?
A must with French Fries is alway ketchup! Look for a brand that is organic, has simple ingredients, and a natural sweetener. I like Sir Kensington’s Classic Ketchup.
These would also taste great dipped in my homemade Vegan Nacho Cheese Sauce.
If you’re looking for a main dish to serve with these easy fries, try my Vegan Black Bean Quinoa Burger or Vegan Sloppy Joes.
