This spinach apple smoothie is a fresh take on the traditional green smoothie made with spinach, avocado, a Granny Smith apple, banana, and chia seeds. It’s just the thing to start your morning off right, or quench your hunger between meals while fueling your body with plant powered nutrients!

I have to admit that sometimes I indulge a bit too much in my love of chocolate and sweet things. Don’t get me wrong, I love my veggies too, but I’m a true chocolate addict.
My typical morning breakfast is a rice cake smeared with nut butter, but I knew my body was in need of some healthy plant superfoods to get me back on track and balance my blood sugar levels. That’s why I developed this healthy, nutrient rich green smoothie with spinach, apple, avocado, and banana. It’s even got chia seeds which add omega-3 fatty acids. It’s a great way to start the day, or fuel your body with nutrients between meals. I’m sure it will become one of your favorites!

I wouldn’t try to keep it longer than the day you made it.
You can also freeze leftovers by pouring it into cube trays. When you’re ready to enjoy again, transfer the cubes to your blender and blend until smooth.
💭 Expert Tips
- I like to add the spinach first to make sure it breaks down in the smoothie. Many people don’t like having little flecks of spinach or kale in their smoothies so putting it in first allows it to incorporate and breakdown with the almond milk.
- Freeze your overripe bananas so that you have a frozen banana ready whenever you want to enjoy a smoothie.
- I add the frozen bananas and chia seeds last. Make sure to cut the banana into chunks before adding it to your smoothie so that it easily blends and breaks down.
- Use a high speed blender if you have one. It will give you the best consistency.

I’ve made many smoothies without a high-speed blender & works fine. Just have to run blender a little longer but no problems. Sometimes these recipes are more complicated than they really are so always think outside the box when they call for sophisticated appliances which are usually not necessary.
