🥣 Ingredients and Notes
Real Pumpkin Puree: The pumpkin adds a rich orange color and an earthy autumn flavor. Use canned pumpkin for convenience.
Frozen Banana: The frozen banana adds a natural creaminess to the smoothie.
Pumpkin Pie Spice: You can also use a combination of cinnamon, cloves, ginger, allspice, and nutmeg.
Unsweetened Almond Milk (or other plant milk)
Ice Cubes: For extra icy creaminess.
Maple Syrup (optional: If you need a touch more sweetness because you feel the banana isn’t enough, add a touch of maple syrup.
📖 Variations and Substitutions
Don’t have almond milk? Any plant milk will work well in this smoothie. Some of your other options include soy, rice, cashew, oat, or coconut. If you choose coconut milk, you’ll have a higher fat content and a more prosperous and creamy texture.
No frozen banana? If you don’t have a frozen banana, you can use a very ripe banana. You may need to add some ice to thicken up the smoothie.
Add Fruit: If you like your smoothie a bit sweeter, add additional frozen fruit such as mango or peaches. The smoothie will retain that bright pumpkin orange!
Add Healthy Fats: Boost the nutritional value of this smoothie by adding some healthy fats, such as a tablespoon of almond butter, hemp seeds, ground flaxseed, chia seeds, or vanilla protein powder.
🔪Equipment
High-Speed Blender: Any good smoothie always starts with a good blender. I highly recommend the Ninja Twisti, which has an excellent price compared to the more expensive Vitamix and Blendtec.
