💗 Why You’ll Love This Hocus Pocus Fruit Board
Adorable Theme: There will be no doubt that this themed tray showcases the sisters from Hocus Pocus. Kids and adults will smile at the creativity.
Healthy: Instead of being made up of Halloween candy, this snack board is made of all natural ingredients!
Allergy-Friendly: This is perfect for those with allergies. It’s vegan-friendly, dairy-free, egg-free, nut-free (if you remove the cashew noses), and gluten-free.
Easy and Quick: This recipe is super easy to make. There is not cooking involved, it’s all about arranging the fruit on the tray in the shape of the Sanderson Sisters.
🥣 Ingredients and Notes
Rice Cakes: The faces of the witches are made using 3 round plain rice cakes.
For the Faces: You will need six blueberries in total (2 eyes for each face), three cashews (for the noses), three olive slices cut in half (for the eyebrows), and three pieces of a small red or orange bell pepper (for the mouths). No candy eyeballs are needed.
Fruit for the For the Hair: Each sister has a different iconic hairstyle. You’ll use red raspberries for Winifred to create the two cone-shaped buns. For Mary, you’ll use blackberries to create a swirling cone. You’ll use thin white peach slices for Sarah to create the long blond hair.
Fruit for the Bodies/Dresses: Each sister has an iconic dress color. Winifred is green, Mary is red, and Sarah is purple. I used grapes for each sisters’ dress. Winifred has green grapes. Mary has red grapes, and Sarah has purple concord grapes.
📖 Variations and Substitutions
Different Fruits: Feel free to use different types of fruit to create the hair and body for each of the sisters. For example, if white peaches are unavailable, you can use pineapple slices to create Sarah’s flowing blond hair. Instead of red grapes, you could use sliced strawberries.
Use Veggies for the Dresses: To give this snack board more variety, combine fruits and vegetables. For example, Winifred could have a dress made of cucumbers, Mary a dress of red pepper slices, and Sarah could have purple carrots.
No Nut Version: There are only three cashews on this platter, but if you are serving someone with a nut allergy, you can use small carrot slices for the nose instead.
👩🏻🍳 How to Make a Hocus Pocus Snack Board
- Wash and dry all of your fruit before beginning. Pull the grapes from their stems.
- Make the Faces: This is the most important part! Arrange the three rice cakes on your board. I like to stagger them. Place two blueberries for eyes on each of the rice cakes. Add the cashew for the nose, the sliced pepper for the mouth, and the olive slices for the eyebrows.
- Add the Hair: Place the thin peach slices in a cascade from the top of the first rice cake to the middle to create Sarah’s hair. Layer the peach slices for a better effect. Now, arrange the raspberries in two cone shapes on top of the third rice cake. I start with four raspberries on each side, followed by three, two, and one. For Mary’s hair, use the blackberries to shape a swirling cone on the third rice cake. Add some blueberries or concord grapes to add texture and fill any holes.
- Add the Bodies/Dress: Add the concord grapes for Sarah’s dress. Add as many as you like in a triangular shape to fill in gaps or holes. Next, add the green grapes for Winifred’s dress similarly, followed by using the red grapes for Mary’s dress.
- Filling in the Background: If you have space on your platter, you can fill it with other ingredients. I suggest black olives on the top of the platter for a night sky and pretzels on the bottom for the ground. This is optional. You could add some small pumpkins to the platter to give it an autumn vibe. Serve and enjoy!
📝 Expert Tips
Use a Large Platter: A round wood platter is ideal. However, my round platter wasn’t large enough to fit all the rice cakes and have room for the fruit, so I used my large rectangular platter. However, having a round platter works better for the hair’s shape and each witch’s body.
Use a Platter With An Edge: My platter had no edge, so the fruit easily rolled off if moved. A platter with an edge will keep everything in place.
Wash and Dry All the Fruit: Before you start arranging anything, I recommend you wash and dry all of the fruit first, then allow your creativity to take over so that you can fill in small gaps with other types of fruit for more contrast.
What is in a Hocus Pocus Charcuterie Board?
There are all types of charcuterie boards you can make. Most involve cheese and deli meats such as salami or chorizo. I’ve seen other boards that use brie cheese rounds for the faces instead of rice cakes. You can really use whatever you like or think your guests will enjoy.
🍽 How to Serve
Serve this Halloween board with some of my other favorite Halloween appetizers.
- Halloween Oreos

🫙 How to Store and Keep
Cover the fruit tray with plastic wrap. Store it in the refrigerator. You can make this platter up to a day in advance. If you have leftovers after the party, I recommend disassembling and storing each fruit in a separate airtight container in the refrigerator.
