Ingredients

  • 6 fresh figs cut in half
  • 1 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt

Instructions

  • Rinse the figs in water, and pat dry. Cut the figs in half, removing any stems.
  • Add the dark chocolate to a microwave-safe glass bowl. Microwave in increments of 30 seconds, stirring in between until the chocolate is melted.
  • Dip each fig half in the melted chocolate. You can dip the whole fig or half the fig. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Sprinkle with a pinch of sea salt and allow to sit until the chocolate hardens and sets. About 5-10 minutes. Store in the refrigerator until ready to serve.

Notes

Tips for Making Chocolate Covered Figs
  • Use dark chocolate, preferably 70% or greater.
  • Using chocolate chips is easy to melt. I like the 70% dark chocolate chips from Trader Joe's.
  • Mission Figs or Adriatic Figs are sweeter and provide the best flavor.
  • Sea salt offers a nice balance to the sweetness of the chocolate and the fig.
  • Be sure to sprinkle the sea salt before the chocolate has set.
  • Other toppings you could add include chopped walnuts, chia seeds, or coconut flakes.
  • Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
