Equipment

Ingredients

  • 20 organic strawberries
  • 1 cup dairy-free plain yogurt or plain Greek yogurt
  • ¼ cup freeze dried strawberries
  • 2 tablespoon maple syrup optional

Instructions

  • Wash and dry strawberries. Pat them dry with a paper towel.
  • Remove the tops and then slice the strawberries top in a “V” creating a heart shape. Don’t cut down too far, just enough to create the heart shape.
  • Gently place a toothpick or small stick on the ends of each strawberry.
  • In a small mixing bowl, fold together the dairy-free yogurt, freeze dried strawberries, and optional maple syrup. Keep in the refrigerator until ready to serve. Dip needs to be served cold.

Notes

Tips for Making Strawberry Hearts
  • Be sure to wash the strawberries thoroughly and pat them dry before cutting.
  • Don't cut the V too deep in the strawberry.
  • Use organic strawberries if possible.
  • If you want your dip thicker, add a teaspoon of cornstarch, and whip it together.
  • For a thinner dip consistency add a tablespoon of almond milk.
  • For a sweeter dip, use vanilla-flavored yogurt.
  • Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days or until strawberries remain fresh.
  • Chocolate Dip: Melt dark chocolate chips by microwaving in 30-second increments and stirring until the chocolate is completely melted. Dip the tops of the strawberries in the chocolate, and set them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Refrigerate until chocolate has set. Serve!
  • Cut Strawberries in Half: Make your strawberries stretch further by cutting each heart-shaped strawberry in half.
  • Make a Festive Valentine's Day Fruit Tray: Serve the strawberry hearts with other fresh fruit and a yogurt or chocolate dip at the center.
